Bayern Munich Transfers On The WayBreno, Luca Toni, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk All Could Be Out
Changes could be coming for German powers Bayern Munich in the coming months as Breno, Luca Toni and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk are all possible transfers.
German giants Bayern Munich will likely make some personnel moves this winter break as a number of players - including Breno, Luca Toni, Anatoliy Tymoshchuk -are either wanting out of the Bundesliga side or are rumored to be interested by other clubs. Zenit St. Petersburg Want Anatoliy Tymoshchuk BackRussian club Zenit St. Petersburg is interested in bringing Ukrainian star Anatoliy Tymoshchuk back to Russia, the German mass daily Bild reported on October 23, 2009. But it remains questionable if Bayern will let go of the midfielder, who only arrived in Munich during the past off-season for 11 million euros. The 30-year-old has played a full 90 minutes in seven of Bayern's nine Bundesliga matches as well as two of their three Champions League contests. Breno Wants OutBayern's 20-year-old Brazilian defender Breno apparently wants out of Munich - and if possible during the winter break should he not play more in Louis van Gaal's backline. "During the summer I was told I had to stay because (Martin) Demichelis was injured. But I really haven't played much, and now (Holger) Badstuber is playing. We have to sit down together in the winter. If nothing changes, I have to transfer out," Breno told Bild on Oct 15, 2009. Breno arrived at Bayern in summer 2008 for about 10 million euros from FC Sao Paulo and has only played six league matches even though club manager Uli Hoeness is convinced Breno is a world class talent. Luca Toni Fearful Of Missing World CupAnother star on the list of possible departures is striker Luca Toni. The Italian has not secured a regular spot in attack for van Gaal and could ask for Munich to sell him off to another club where he can play more. Toni is fearful that being only a part-time starter will hurt his chances of going to the 2010 World Cup with Italy. The German magazine Sport Bild reported on October 28, 2009 that Toni has received offers from Italy, England and France, including Roma and AC Milan. Sosa, Baumjohann, Görlitz, Lell Looking ElsewhereAmong the other players looking to possibly leave Munich sooner rather than later are Jose Ernesto Sosa, Alexander Baumjohann, Andreas Görlitz and Christian Lell. Things have boiled over for Sosa as the midfielder told Bild on October 28, 2009: "It is bitter, but I am a realist. If nothing changes by winter, then I have to look for a new club." Bayern tried to send Sosa to Cologne earlier in the season already but the Argentinean turned down the move. Gomez Willing To FightBayern striker Mario Gomez meanwhile is not yet interested on leaving Bayern despite struggling to get regular playing time despite strikers or attacking midfielders Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Ivica Olic all being injured. "It is certainly not a pleasure because the situation is not how I had imagined it. But I have not regretted my transfer for one minute," Gomez said in Sport Bild on October 28, 2009. Gomez scored 24 goals for Stuttgart last season and has scored more goals in the Bundesliga over the last three seasons than any other player. Not Selling Breno, StrikersTwo days after Breno said he wants out of Munich, Hoeness said when everything settles down personnel-wise that Bayern will look at sending him on loan somewhere. "We will not sell him," Hoeness said on spox.com on October 17, 2009. About the winter break, the Bayern manager told Sportbild on October 28, 2009: "The roster will surely be smaller." And Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said Munich is not ready to get rid of any attackers. "We definitely don't want to get rid of any of the strikers," Rummenigge told the magazine Champions in mid-October 2009.
