FIFA World Cup 2010, new stadium development at October 2009, Bogus World Cup Ticket operations, Where to Purchase Tickets for World Cup & Teams Qualified at October 2009

A tour of the newly developed stadiums in early October 2009, by over 50 FIFA experts together with various members of the South African organising committee, has confirmed that there are no problems with any of the new stadiums for the World Cup. The all-new Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is already complete and several games have now been hosted at the venue. The other four new stadiums are 90% complete, with landscaping being the major outstanding item.

Bogus World Cup Ticket Operation on the Internet

A recent news item in The Times newspaper highlighted that a Scotland Yard investigation by the E-Crime unit was requested by FIFA due to the sale of bogus World Cup tickets on the internet. The investigation has already closed down over 100 internet sites which have been selling bogus World Cup tickets worldwide. Up to 20 of these sites were based in the UK, with the remainder being located worldwide. It is thought that this may well be the tip of the iceberg, as many fans may already have handed over money and be holding worthless tickets. South Africa expects at least 500,000 football fans from the 32 participating nations to visit during the World Cup and FIFA are extremely apprehensive about the impacts of the bogus ticket operations.
